Analysis on causes to cold heading cracking in cold heading steel

The cold heading cracking specimens of the cold heading steels ML42CrMo,SWRCH22A and SWRCH6A have been examined and analyzed by metallographic testing and electron probe analysis.Results show that the surface defects of material,distribution of internal inclusions,serious segregation of compostions or abnormal structures are main causes to the cold heading cracking.
