Based on the metabolic maps of mesophilic archaea methanosarcina acetivorans(MAC) and ther-mophilic archaea methanopyrus kandleri(MKA) derived from KEGG database, their respective network properties were compared. It was found that the average path lengths and diameters of MAC were longer than those in MKA,which suggested an overall loose network structure in MAC.Besides, the functional modules of these two organisms were analyzed on the basis of algorithm proposed by Grivan and Newman. The findings were compared with the pathway information in KEGG and revealed that most of decomposed modules corresponded to 2-4 KEGG pathways, which suggested these network modules had some functional significance.
