Clinical investigation on levofloxacin and azithromycin in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of levofloxacin and azithromycin in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).Methods Fifty-six patients with CAP were randomly divided into two groups:① treatment group:the patients were treated with levofloxacin and azithromycin. ② control group:the patients were treated with levofloxacin alone. Both groups were treated for 7~14 days. Efficacy and safety of levofloxacin and azithromycin in the treatment were observed.Results The overall efficacy was 96.42% for the treatment group and 82.14% for the control group. The results showed that there were significant differences between the two groups (P0.05);The rates of the side effects were 14.29% and 21.43%,respectively. There were no significant differences between the two groups (P0.05).Conclusion Levofloxacin and azithromycin in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) can improve efficacy,shorten the course of disease and are well tolerated.
