Content Determination of Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine in Mafu Capsules (Herba Ephedrae, Radix Aconiti Praeparata, etc.) by High Performance Capillary Electrophoresis

The high performance capillary electrophoresis has been developed for the content determination of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine in Mafu Capsules. The measurements were carried out in a buffer: 0.01mol/L valine solution with the pH adjusted to 10.5 with ammonia solution, with detection wavelength at 190nm. The linear calibration ranges were 3.91-31.25μg/ml for ephedrine and 5.27 -42.19μg/ml for pseudoephedrine. The average recoveries were 99.2% (RSD=1.2%) for ephedrine and 102.1% (RSD=1.7%) for pseudoephedrine. The method was simple. rapid and economical.
