Fluorescent molecular probes as a kind of efficient means to detect metal ions exhibit the advantages of easy operation as well as high sensitivity and selectivity.This review summarizes the most recent research progress of naphthalimide-based fluorophore molecular probes.It is pointed out that naphthalimides exhibit unique fluorescent chemical properties(such as high fluorescence quantum yield,moderate fluorescence emission wavelength,large Stokes shifts,good light stability and good accessibility to structure modification).This is why naphthalimides are highly focused on the research field of fluorophore molecular probes.Besides,it is also pointed out that new progresses have been continuously made in the synthesis,ion recognition,detection and applications in live cell imaging of naphthalimide fluorescent molecular probes.
