The Development and Practice of Academic Advising in American Universities

Academic advising is the essential part of student affairs management. In China's university,academic advising is facing some problems as below: not being paid enough attention, having a lack of scientific and systemic content and methods. However, after 100 years of development, academic advising in the USA, has become a professional work, forming a well-formed academic advising system, with outstanding effect on promoting student's learning and development. Therefore, studying the development and practices of academic advising in American universities is meaningful for improving academic advising and promoting student's learning and development in China.
