Evaluation of IGBT with Integrated Temperature Sensor for On-line Junction Temperature Monitoring

IGBT power modules are one of the key components in power converters. Their failure impacts the reliability of the overall power electronics system. One of the most important stresse impacting their reliability in descrete packaging or in power modules is the variation of the IGBT’s junction temperature. This paper presents the evaluation of IGBT device with integrated temperature and current sensors for on-line monitoring of the junction temperature and current in power converter. The goal is to use this device for further estimation of its lifetime in power converters.
