During various steps of the production of aluminum and its alloy, huge amount of dross floats on the liquid molten aluminum. Researchers found that this dross contains less amount of aluminum particles. Drossing is the formation of aluminum oxide and other oxides which accumulate on the melt surface. Recovery of aluminum from the dross is a challenging task. However, the conventional method that most of the foundries are following is very messy and also recovery rate is not optimum. In this paper, an attempt is made to accelerate the recovery rate by using the special purpose dross crusher. It is found that by using the dross crusher, the recovery rate is increased and also the method of handling molten dross is not so messy compared to the conventional method.
