Principles of small animal bandaging.

Guidelines on bandaging small animals are presented in this chapter and highlights the following points: identifying the different layers of a bandage, understanding the principles of safe practice whilst applying dressings or bandages, identify the different types of dressings and their use, the risk factors for iatrogenic injuries, applying safe and effective bandage to a small animal. Clinical skills which were discussed includes: applying a canine forelimb bandage, applying a canine chest drain bandage, applying an ear bandage, and applying a lower-limb protective bandage on a horse.
