Predicted Effects of Filter Inhomogeneities on Flow Rate and Pressure Drop

Filter performance characteristics of interest include collection efficiency as a function of particle size and flow rate at a given pressure drop or pressure drop at a given flow rate. Failure to take inhomogeneity into account in predicting flow rate or pressure drop through filters or in using flow rate or pressure drop to infer cake thickness or pore size can lead to substantial errors, as the formulas and calculations in this report indicated. 1 figure.
