摘要
Abstract The photoluminescence‐type color filters (PLCFs) in displays have been in big demand recently, particularly due to their highly saturated colors and higher display optical efficiency. Unlike absorptive‐type color filters used in modern displays, photoluminescence‐type color filters reduce overall display light losses, and therefore, many luminescent materials, ranging from inorganic phosphors, semiconductor nanocrystals, and organic dyes, have been studied for color filter application. While nanomaterials like quantum dots, quantum rods, and perovskite nanocrystals demonstrate narrow‐band emissions that outperform organic dyes, the fabrication of nanomaterial‐based photoluminescence color filters faces significant challenges. This review outlines the essential prerequisites for photoluminescence‐type color filters, explores the relevant emitting materials, and delves into the recent advancements in the field. The possibilities and constraints of the existing technologies are assessed, a metric for determining potential color‐converting material candidates, and the performance of PLCFs is put forth, and possible solutions for implementing this technology into modern displays are proposed.
