Research progress in decreasing the anodic overpotential for oxygen evolution in water electrolysis

The research progress in lowering the hydrogen generating energy consumption of alkaline water electrolysis by decrea-(sing) the anodic overpotential for oxygen evolution was reviewed.Two main methods which decreased the anodic overpotential for oxygen evolution,including anode surface modification and additives technique were introduced.The additives technique was simple and feasible,showing the great potential of decreasing the energy consumption of water electrolysis.
