The Effect of Ultrasonic Deep Rolling (UDR) on Surface Topography and Surface Roughness of TC4 Titanium Alloy

In this paper, the effect of UDR process on surface topography and surface roughness of a typical titanium alloy TC4 was evaluated. A Quant200 Scanning Electronic Microscope was used to observed and analyzed the original and UDR treated surface and a TR240 profilometer was employed to evaluated the influence of UDR process on surface roughness. Results showed that the treatment of UDR can eliminate surface micro-scar and dramatically decrease surface roughness from Ra 2.32 m to 0.11 μm.
