Urinary tract infections among patients with diabetes mellitus:a clinical analysis of 45 cases

Objective To investigate the clinical manifestation of bacterial urinary tract infections among patients with diabetes in five years.Method A contrast analysis of clinical features was performed on urinary tract infections in patient between 45cases with diabetes and 30 cases without diabetes diagnosed from January 2007 to December 2011.Results The urinary tract infection rate in diabetes group was higher(60%,P﹤0.05),especially in female patients.The rate of asymptomatic bacteriuria(ASB 17.8%),acute pyelonephritis(44.4%),complicated urinary tract infection(28.9%) in diabetes group were all higher than non-diabetes one(P﹤0.05).The results of bacterial culture indicated that the fungal infection rate was higher in diabetes group.Conclusion The urinary tract infection rate with diabetes are higher.The infections mainly include ASB,acute pyelonephritis and complicated urinary tract infection.The key to reduce the urinary tract infection in the patients with diabetes is to take measures on ASB at the basis of controlling blood glucose.
