Data Mining of ZHAN Libin's Medication Rules in Treating Cancer

Objective To study ZHAN Libin' s medication rules in treating cancer by data mining technology. Methods Totally 132 patients with cancer who received treatment in ZHAN Libin Expert Outpatient Services in the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University were collected. The clinical information database was established. The herbs and herb categories were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. ZHAN Libin' s medication characteristics were analyzed by cluster analysis and Bayesian networks. Results There were 132 patients,664 visits and 210 herbs involved. The herbs with frequency higher than 50% were Huangqi( Radix Astragali,黄芪),Fuling( Poria, 茯苓),Dangshen( Radix Codonopsis,党参),Baihuasheshecao( Herba Hedyotis,白花蛇舌草),Danggui( Radix Angelicae Sinensis,当归),Banbianlian( Herba Lobeliae Chinensis,半边莲),Chenpi( Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae,陈 皮),Zhigancao( Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparata cum Melle,炙甘草),Chaobaizhu( Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma Frictum,炒白术),Banzhilian( Herba Scutellariae Barbatae,半枝莲) and Shancigu( Pseudobulbus Cremastrae seu Pleiones,山慈菇). The commonly used herbs were deficiency-supplementing herb,heat-clearing toxin-resolving herb,qi-regulating herb,digestive herb,water-disinhibiting damp-percolating herb and blood-quickening pain-relieving herb. There were five herb cluster groups such as group of Huangqi,Fuling,Dangshen,Baihuasheshecao,Danggui,Zhigancao,Chenpi,Chaobaizhu,Banbianlian and Banzhilian,group of Mudanpi( Cortex Moutan,牡 丹皮),Zhizi( Fructus Gardeniae,栀子),Yujin( Radix Curcumae,郁金),Moyao( Myrrha,没药),Chuanlianzi( Fructus Toosendan,川楝子) and Shancigu,group of Baizhu( Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae,白术),Zhishi( Fructus Aurantii Immaturus,枳实),Shanyao( Rhizoma Dioscoreae,山药),Baibiandou( Semen Lablab Album,白扁 豆),Jiaoshanzha( Crataegi Fructus Ustus,焦山楂),Chaomaiya( Hordei Fructus Germinatus Frictus,炒麦芽),Chaoshenqu( Massa Medicata Fermentata Fricta,炒神曲),Jineijin( Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli,鸡内金), Jiangbanxia( Rhizome Pinelliae Praeparata,姜半夏) and Gancao( Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae,甘草),group of Longgu( Os Draconis,龙骨) and Muli( Concha Ostreae,牡蛎) and group of Ejiao( Colla Corii Asini,阿胶),Shudihuang( Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata,熟地黄),Chuanxiong( Rhizoma Chuanxiong,川芎),Shengdihuang( Radix Rehmanniae Recens,生地黄),Maidong( Radix Ophiopogonis,麦冬) and Duzhong( Cortex Eucommiae,杜仲). Huangqi was chosen as a target and the herbs with frequency higher than 20% were analyzed by Bayesian networks to get the main formula combined with Huangqi,Dangshen,Fuling,Shudihuang,Maidong,Ejiao,Danggui,Chuanxiong,Zhishi,Chaobaizhu( Baizhu),Chaoshenqu,Baihuasheshecao,Banbianlian,Duzhong and Gancao. Conclusion ZHAN Libin often uses deficiency-supplementing herb,heat-clearing toxin-resolving herb,qi-regulating herb, digestive herb,blood-quickening stasis-transforming herb and sedative or tranquilizing herb to treat cancer,reflecting the idea of supporting body resistance and anticancer.
