Objective To compare the incidence of cystoid macular edema of phacoemulsification between the implantations of yellow and non-yellow intraocular lens (IOL).Methods Two hundred and eighty-two cases(310 eyes) were divided into two groups randomly. In group Ⅰ,phacoemulsification followed by implantation of yellow IOL was performed in 155 eyes, and in group Ⅱ,phacoemulsification followed by implantation of non-yellow IOL in 155 patients. The incidence of cystoid macular edema were compared between the two groups after 6 months of follow-up.Results The incidences of postoperative cystoid macular edema of yellow and non-yellow intraocular lens implantation groups were 2/155 and 10/155,respectively,with statistically significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion After phacoemulsification, the incidence of cystoid macular edema could be reduced by implantation of yellow IOL.
