Objectives To analyze the relationship between integron and drug-resistant phenotype of Acinetobacter baumanii, according to the distribution of class Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ integrons in Acinetobacter baumanii. Methods Antibiotic susceptibility tests from 93 strains of Acinetobacter baumanii were performed by using bioMerieux VITEK 2.Integrons were detected by PCR using degenerate primers targeted to 5' conserved regions of class Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ integrase genes. The class of the integron was determined by analyzing integrase PCR products by restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP) following digestion using Hinf I restriction enzyme. Results Integrons were found in 22 strains of Acinetobacter baumanii, which were all classⅠintegrons as PCR-RFLP analysis, without class Ⅱ and Ⅲ integrons. The drug-resistant rate in isolates of integron positive was generally higher than that of the integron negative strains. Conclusions High drug resistance is found in Acinetobacter baumanii.Class Ⅰ integron is associated with multi-drug resistance in Acinetobacter baumanii.
