Utilization of chinese patent medicines in outpatient prescriptions of a hospital in 2009

Objective To evaluate the utilization of Chinese patent medicines in outpatient prescriptions of the hospital for the reference of clinical management and rational use of this kind of drugs. Methods couected the outpatient prescriptions randomly by distance method,and analysised statistically the frequency and the route of administration of patent Chinese medicine,classfiied it and analysised the distribution of clinical departments with Chinese patent medicine prescriptions. Results Chinese patent medicine prescriptions accoun-ted for 33. 34% of total prescriptions,the medicine of activate blood and resolve stasis was used frequently,accounted for 47. 32% of the total Chinese patent medicine. Oral Chinese patent medicine was used most,and mainly used to treat the ocular surface diseases and retinal diseases. Conclusion Chinese patent medicine is widely used in the treatment of ophthalmic disorders.
