Objective To observe the efficacy and side effect of thalidomide and dexamethasone for the treatment of recurrent multiple myeloma.Method Fifteen patients were treated with thalidomide and dexamethasone.Treatment protocol was as following.Thalidomide was administered at the dose of 75mg to 150mg after supper every day,after a week,200 mg to 300 mg/d (200 mg orally twice a day),after three weeks 300 mg for seven weeks,and associated with dexamethasone administered orally at the dose of 3 mg/d every morning, dexamethasone was reduced after one and a half months,every week 0.375 mg was reduced, ten weeks was a cycle.Result A fall in Para protein levels of greater than 40% was observed in seven of the 15 patients.the remaining four showed disease static or progression.Conclusion Thalidomide and dexamethasone is a feasible and effective method in the treatment of recurrent multiple meyloma,is worth observing further.
