Functionalization of polypropylene via grafting unsaturated monomers such as maleic anhydride, acrylic acid and so on, has received much attention. Many important results related to this topic have been achieved in the past decades. The grating of maleic anhydride on to polypropylene was reviewed briefly, the molecular structures of grated polypropylene, grafting reaction mechanism as well as unsolved problems were introduced mainly. Twelve possible molecular structures of grafted polypropylene and their related reaction mechanism were discussed. Finally, it shows that the molecular structures of grated polypropylene depend on experimental condition including temperature, reaction time, initial concentration, etc.
