SOME PROBLEMS IN METALLOGENY

Metallogeny is a new and comprehensive science dealing with processes of formation and time-spane distribution of mineral deposits from the tectonic point of vicw. Up to now great progress has been made in metallogeny at home and abroad, and it is mainly embodied in the followng: (1) Metallo genic points of view have been developed from dualistic to triple or multiple tectonic elements, from two-stage (geosynclinal and platform) to multistage, from single genesis (such as exogenesis and end ogeness) to polygenesis, and from studying metallogenic epoches individually to investigating evolution relationships between various metallogenic epoches; (2) Metallogenic prediction was developed from qua litively to quantitatively; (3) Metallogenic research was developed from simple seologic research to comprehensive research involving yman sciences. The field of metallogenic study is very wide, including geneTal metallogeny, regional metallogeny, metallogeny of mineralized regions, metallogeny of individual elements, historical metallogeny, metallogeny of ore formation, comparative metall-ogen y, globa(?) metallogeny, metallogenic cartography and metallogeny of ore quantitative prediction. The methods of metallogenic investigation include: metallotectonic method, formation-analysis met hod, metallogenic comparison method, geological event-analysis method, mathgeological method, com prehensive analysis method, mdetallogenic cartographic method and ore quantati prediction method.Further metallogenic research will carried out in the following directions: (1) widening our outl ok and undertakin world-wide comparative investigation; (2) paying more attention to metall ogenic study in ocean crust; (3) establishing metallogenic models for each tectonic element and mak ing a program for evaluation; and (4) perfecting metallogenic research methods. The author believes that: (1) Metallogenic study of the deep crust will develop rapivesttgly; (2) Indation of metallogenic theories will be more active; (3) International cooperation in the field of metallogeny will be st rengthened.
