The dispersion effect of carbon black on PTC characteristics for the conducting polymer composites mainly consisting of high-density polyethylene and carbon black was examined and studied. The composites filled with two kinds of carbon black with different particle size and surface area, i. e. the mixture of common carbon black and acetylene carbon black, exhibited lower percolation threshold as well as higher critical temperature and PTC strength. Furthermore, such composites also showed quite good stability of electrical resistance. All these experimented results could be attributed to the good dispersion of the mixture of carbon black in the system.
