A Tentative Study on Transformational Generative Grammar

Chomsky's generative grammar influences the linguistic literature greatly after its very appearance. This paper mainly introduces Generative Grammar and its various stages of development. The research targets, research methods and several important concepts of Generative Grammar are also mentioned in this paper. The paper also proposes some limitations in the theory of Generative Grammar.
