Endoscopic sinus surgery, clinical observation with 1238 cases

Objective To observe the long-term curative effect of endoscopic sinus surgery(ESS).Methods 1238 cases of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps were treated with ESS, and following up survey 1 year postaperatively. Results It was found that 862 cases were cured(69.6%), 325 cases achieved symptomatic relief (26.3%), 51 cases remained failure (4.1%),and the effective rate was 95.9%, mainly operative complication was adhesion of nasal cavity.Conclusions The curative effect of ESS was successful. It is effective to clear the ill tissue and treat middle turbinate correctly, and regularly follow-up could reduce operation complications.
