046 Anorexia nervosa: The influence of underweight on pubertal development and the HPG axis

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe psychiatric disease that mainly effects adolescent girls. The eating disorder and related disturbed eating patterns have a huge impact on all organs and can cause irreversible damage in the growing and developing child. Endocrine abnormalities in AN are likely to be primarily adaptive to the state of chronic starvation. This presentation will focus on the impact of anorexia nervosa on growth and the HPG axis.
