Taking account of the effect of the degree of grain alignment on the coercivity, the angular dependence of the coercivity for sintered NdFeB magnets is discussed in terms of various coercivity mechanisms. The comparison between various theoretical results and experiments indicates that the misalignment of the grains makes coercivity of the magnets increase rather than decrease and the starting field theory of coercivity is in better agreement with experiments than either the nucleation or pinning mechanisms.
