A Co-single-atom seeded growth strategy, employing ammonia-mediated pyrolysis, is developed for the precise growth of FeCo clusters on nitrogen-doped mesoporous carbon (FeCo/SMC) as bifunctional electrocatalysts in rechargeable Zn–air batteries.
