The objectives of this paper are to explain the dynamics of crowds and their characteristic behaviors and then to use the knowledge gained to propose improved design solutions for a number of examples: theaters, soccer stadiums, and pedestrian intersections. Finally, the paper describes some fundamentals of the implementation of the computer simulation modes, which is used to assess pedestrian flow scenarios.
