A widely used hydraulic power assisted recirculating ball steering system is modeled mathematically, and then the concept of equivalent torque of hydraulic assisted pressure acting on the worm is developed .Using these as tools ,we analyze the rigidity of this steering system as well as the steering sensitivity of automobiles equipped with such a steering system.Then a few important evaluation parameters are discussed about their changing trend against the pressure gain of steering control valve, so the importance of the pressure gain is displayed. These can enable designers to conduct a quantitative analysis of the performances of automobiles with such a steering system and also help the design work.
