Present situation investigation on self-management behavior of elderly knee osteoarthritis patients in community

OBJECTIVE To survey self-management behavior status of old knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients and analyze the existing problems,in order to provide basis for the intervention of the community.METHODS Adopted the cluster sampling method,a total of 213 elderly cases of KOA patients in three communities from 363 communities were extracted as research objects.Used the self-management behavior scale in the chronic disease self-management research inventory (Chinese version) to carry out questionnaire survey.RESULTS The medians of self-management behavior level,sport exercise,cognitive symptoms management practice and communication with doctors among old KOA patients were 5.00,6.00 and 2.00 points.The discrete trends of sports exercise and cognitive symptoms management were bigger,self-management level was low.CONCLUSION The self-management behavior level of elderly KOA patients in community is low,it needs for more effective intervention measures to improve the self-management behavior level.
