Study on Anti-inflammatory and Analgesic Action of Total Glucosides from Shaoyao Gancao Decoction and Its Compound Mechanism

Objective To study the anti-inflammation and analgesic action of the total glucosides from Shaoyao Gancao decoction and to explore its compound mechanism. Methods Xylene was used to induce auricular swelling in the mices, tampon to make rats granuloma, egg white to make pedal swelling in rats, and methods of the mice hot plate and body torsion by acetic acid were also applied. Results The total glucosides from Shaoyao Gancao decoction at the concentration of 150～ 600 mg· kg-1· d-1 relieved the mice inflammation induced by xylene (P 0.01), and 75～ 300 mg· kg-1· d-1 could decrease rats pedal swelling rate induced by egg white (P 0.01) and rats granuloma weight induced by tampon (P 0.01). The total glucosides at the concentration of 150～ 600 mg· kg-1· d-1 could prolong the mice threshold of pain induced by methods of the hot plate (P 0.01), and could lessen the body torsion induced by acetic acid (P 0.01). The anti-inflammation and analgesic action of total glucosides from Shaoyao Gancao decoction was stronger than that from Glycyrrhiza uralensis or Paeoniae Alba. Conclusion The total glucosides from Shaoyao Gancao decoction have the anti-inflammation and analgesic action, in which the total glucosides from Glycyrrhiza uralensis and the total glucosides from Paeoniae Alba have the synergistic action.
