Objective:To observe the expression of astrocyte elevated gene-1(AEG-1) in colonic carcinoma and analyze the relationship between AEG-1 and clinicopathological characteristics of colonic carcinoma. Methods:EnVision immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of AEG-1 in 63 cases colonic carcinoma and 30 cases normal colonic mucosa; and then the relationship between AEG-1 and clinicopathological characteristics of colonic carcinoma was analyzed. Results:In 63 cases colonic carcinoma, the positive expression rate of AEG-1 was 68.25%(43/63); In 30 cases normal colonic mucosa, the positive expression rate of AEG-1 was 26.67%(8/30); the positive expression rate of AEG-1 in colonic carcinoma was obviously higher than that in normal colonic mucosa(χ2=14.192,P 0.01). The expression of AEG-1 in colonic carcinoma was related to differentiated degree and TNM stage of colonic carcinoma(P0.05); but had no relations with sex,age and tumor size(P 0.05). Conclusions:Upregulation of AEG-1 expression in colonic carcinoma is closely related with development of colonic carcinoma.
