Inflammatory reaction characteristics of perihematoma brain tissue in patients with acute hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage

Objective To investigate the inflammatory reaction characteristics of perihematomal brain tissue in patients with acute hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH).Methods 29 patients who received minimally invasive surgery for ICH were divided into three groups according to the following bleeding time:6～24 hours,24～48 hours and 48 hours.The expressions of leukocyte common antigen(LCA) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) in the brain tissues collected during the surgery were detected by immunohistochemistry staining method.Results LCA and ICAM-1 immunopositive cells and microvessels were verified in all 29 cases of ICH groups,and the expressions were more than control group(all P0.01).There were no significant differences of LCA expression among different time group.The ICAM-1 expressions in 24～48 hours group and 48 hours group were higher than that in 6～24 h group(both P0.01).There was no difference between 24～48 hours group and 48 hours group.Conclusions Acute inflammatory reaction occurs in acute period of ICH.Expression of ICAM-1 reinforces gradually during early 48 hours since the onset of ICH.
