Study on five iridoid glycosides from fruits of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis

Objective:To study the chemical constituents in the fruit of Gardenia.jasminoides Ellis.Method:The compounds are isolated and purified by silica gel column, reversed-phase column chromatography and Sephadex LH-20 etc.The chemical structures of the compounds are elucidated by their physicochemical properties and spectral data, such as MS, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 2D-NMR.Result:The five Iridoid glycosides:6-O-[(E)-cinnamoyl]gentiobiosylgenipin(1), geniposide(2), genipin-1-β-gentiobiside(3), 6′-O-]sinapoyl]geniposide(4), 6″-O-(E)-p-coumaroylgentio biosylgenipin(5)are isolated from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis.Conclussion:The five compounds are already-known Iridoid glycosides.
