Analysis on the Time of Free Disease and Impact Factors of Stage III of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Treated with Late Course Comformal Radiotherapy

Objective To analyze retrospectively the time of free disease and impact factors of patients with stage Ⅲ of non-small cell lung cancer treated with late course comformal radiotherapy.Methods 51 patients with stage Ⅲ of non-small cell lung cancer were treated with late course comformal radiotherapy.Data collected were eligible for analysis.10 of them were treated by conventional radiotherapy of 36Gy followed by late course comformal radiotherapy.41 of them were treated by conventional radiotherapy and late course comformal radiotherapy after 2 cycles of chemotherapy.The dose of radioation ranged from 56-70Gy.The related factors of the response to therapy and the time of free disease were calculated with univariate and multivariate analysis.Results The overall response rate in the patients was 72.5% and the median time of free disease was 7 months,ranging from 3 months to 17 months.In univariate analysis,karnofsky performance status(KPS) was significantly associated with response to therapy,and the following factors had significantly effects on the time of free disease:KPS,histology,chemotherapy,response to therapy.However,multivariate analysis revealed that only good response to therapy was an independent impact factor of the time of free disease.Conclusion Late course comformal radiotherapy is effective in the treatment of stage Ⅲ of non-small cell lung cancer.The good response to therapy is an independent impact factor of the time of free disease.
