摘要
This chapter provides the discussion to the rising interest in developing skin product that would, via the modulation of the skin microbiome, address many skin concerns. The diversity of the microbiome composition both alpha and beta are commonly used matrix and representations to gauge the similarities and differences between microbe communities. The human skin contains an abundant and diverse population of microbial organisms. The skin microbiome is mostly composed of bacteria with fungi, viruses and, archaea representing fewer species. The composition of the skin microbiome is first a result of the host's intrinsic characteristics such as gender, age, physiological, and genetic background. Sweat, sebum, and hormone influence the local skin environment driving the skin microbiome composition in a different direction for people of different genders. External factors such as lifestyle, diet, hygiene routine and exposure to different environmental conditions have the potential to influence the skin microbiome.
