Bearing Capacity of Footings on Layered Clays

An analysis of the bearing capacity factors, Nc for strip footings on anisotropic two-layer cohesive soils is reported. Numerical results in nondimensional form are presented for two cases: (1) A system of two layers having constant shear strength with depth in each layer, and (2) a single layer in which the shear strength varies linearly with depth.
