Abstract A series of mono and bis N,O-chelate complexes 1-32 with the mono and dianion of indigo and indigo derivatives (R 3 P)(C1)M(L-H + ) (M = Pd,Pt), (n 3 -allyl)Pd(L-H + ), (Ph 2 C=NCH 2 CO 2 Et-H + )Pd(L-H + ), (PhN=NPh-H + )Pd(L-H + ), (C 5 H 5 )Fe(C 5 H 3 CH 2 NMe 2 )Pd(L-H + ), [(R 3 P)(Cl)Pt] 2 (L-2H + ), [(n 3 -allyl)Pd] 2 (L-2H + ), [(C 6 H 4 CH 2 NMe 2 )Pd] 2 (L-2H + ) with L = indigo, 4,4′-dichloro-, 6,6′-dichloro-, 6,6′-dibromo-, 6,6′-di-nBu-, 4,4′-dichloro-, 5.5′dibromo-, 5,5′, 6,6′-tetramethoxy-, 4.4′-di-S 12 H 25- , 5,5′-di-SO 3 Na- indigo, indigo malonic ester and tetrahydro indigo have been prepared from chloro bridged metal complexes. In comparison to the free neutral indigo ligands the complexes show a high bathochromic shift in the VIS spectra (150-300 nm) which is mainly due to the anionic character of the coordinated indigo ligands. The structure of [(Et 3 P)(Cl)Pt] 2 (indigo-2H + ) has been determined by X-ray diffraction.
