In this issue of Chem Catalysis, Hou and co-workers demonstrate the integrated Ni/nitrogen-vacancy engineered carbon nitride for the synthesis of valuable aryl sulfonamide building blocks driven by visible light. Mechanistic investigation and the unprecedented substrate scope highlight the potential of photocatalyst modulation in achieving challenging metallaphotoredox catalytic cross-coupling reactions.
