Objective To know the HBsAg-carrying and ALT abnormal situation of students admitted in our university in order to provide reference for the student's HBV prevention and treatment work. Method To analyze by means of statistics the HBsAg and ALT examination data of students admitted in our university in 2003-2007. Results Of the 29 376 students, the rate of HBsAg-positive, ALT abnormal both HBsAg-positive and ALT abnormal are 6.78%,5.45%,0.80%,respectively. HBsAg-positive rate of male and female are 7.34%, and 4.85% (χ2=210.31,P0.01). Difference exists in each year's HBsAg-positive rate (χ2=9.79,P0.05). with the highest rate in 2003(7.24%) and the lowest rate in 2007(5.97%). There is a downward trend in HBsAg-positive rate year by year. The difference among each year's ALT abnormal rate is significant(χ2=177.70,P0.01). Conclusions The situation of HBsAg-positive and ALT abnormal in freshmen of our school is not optimistic. Male students should be paid more atlention as both rate of HBsAg-positive and ALT abnormal of them are obviously higher than that of female.
