Neutral Saccharide Composition and Uronic Acid Determination of A Soluble Tea Polysaccharide

Objective To investigate neutral saccharide composition in a soluble tea polysaccharide and their influence on determination of the uronic acid content in order to determine it accurately.Methods Based on the sugar analysis of 10 tea polysaccharides,the mix of arabinose︰galactose ︰glucose(1︰1︰0.5,mol ratio),which was the major sugar composition in tea polysaccharides,were applied to investigate the influence of sugar on the carbazole method and meta-hydroxydiphenyl method respectively.Results The soluble tea polysaccharides were mainly consisted of arabinose,galactose,and glucose.Conclusion Meta-hydroxydiphenyl method is less influenced by the neutral sugar in tea polysaccharides than carbazole method and displayed high sensitivity and specificity.
