The stack structure of typical homemade graphite and its electrochemical performance as anode mate rial without any treatment for Li ion battery were studied. The results show that the stack structures and electrochemical performances of various graphite are of great difference. When the graphite samples are used as anode materials without any treatment for Li ion batteries, their capacity, coulombic efficiency, bulk density and tap density is low while their cyclic performances are not ideal. Modification treatment is necessary for the graphite samples to meet the specification of battery performance and technical requirement. The physical and electrochemical performances of homemade graphite after further coating treatment are improved obviously.
