Objective To explore the effects of prolonged oxygen inhalation tube on oxygen therapy. Methods Patients with persistent low flow oxygen therapy were treated with 2 m,3 m,4 m and 5 m oxygen inhalation tube for oxygen therapy respectively. The blood oxygen saturation, the time of oxygen inhalation tube filling with oxygen and the patient satisfaction with prolonged oxygen inhalation tube were compared among the four groups. Results The peripheral oxyen staturation in 5 and 10 minutes after oxygen therapy were higher than those before oxygen therapy within 4 groups comparisons(P0.01).There were no significant differences among the four groups in the peripheral oxygen saturation before oxygen therapy 5 and 10 minutes after oxygen therapy(P0.05).And the time of 2 m,3 m,4 m and 5 m oxygen tube filling with oxygen were 1.26 min,1.88 min,2.51 min and 3.14 min, respectively. All the patients applauded for the prolonged oxygen inhalation tube. Conclusion The appropriately prolonged oxygen inhalation tube has no adverse effects on oxygen therapy. And it not only meets the demands of oxygen therapy for patients, but also benefits for the bedside activities of patients and the rehabilitation of disease.
