The Inhibitiory Effects of Pholidota Chinensis Lindl on Central Nervous System

Objective:To study the sedative hypnotic and anticonvulsant effects of pholidota chinensis lindl(PCL).Method:Its effects were observed through the autonomic activities in mice and the duration of pentobarbital and the hypnotic effect of a low hypnotic threshold dose of pentobarbital mice and the convulsion induced by the electric spur.Result:Pholidota chinensis lindl distinctly decreased the autonomic actvity and increased the hypnotic effect of a low hypnotic threshold dose of pentobarbital mice and prolonged the duration of sleeping of pentobarbital mice.It could inhibit convulsion induced by the electric spur in mice.All results showed dosage dependent effects.Conclusion:pholidota chinensis lindl possess the sedative and hypnotic and anticonvulsant effects.
