Seven Energy Efficiency Indicators and Their Measurement Approaches

Energy efficiency is one of the hot issues in energy policy research.However,systematical comparisons on energy efficiency indicators and their measurement approaches have not received enough attention.This paper comprehensively and systematically introduces conventional energy efficiency indicators and newly ones proposed by us(energy macro-efficiency,energy physical efficiency,energy thermodynamics efficiency,energy utilize efficiency,energy value efficiency,energy allocative efficiency and energy economic efficiency).The theoretical foundations,assumptions,interrelations,advantages,disadvantages and applicable scopes of these indicators are examined.It also discusses the attentions when these indicators are used,and clarifies some of the misunderstandings or misuses of energy efficiency indicators.
