Drug delivery systems and delivery techniques for posterior eye segment

Drug delivery to the posterior eye segment has always been an intractable challenge.With the development of novel drug delivery systems and techniques,remarkable progresses have been made in this field.Implants,biodegradable particles,liposomes,as well as iontophoresis,might demonstrate a broad application in the therapy of posterior eye diseases.Based on the recent literatures,the research advances on drug delivery for the posterior eye segment including the routes of administration,novel drug delivery systems and drug delivery techniques are reviewed.
