PS-057 DİŞ DESTEKLİ OVERDENTURE PROTEZ

Aim: With the loss of teeth, bone destruction in toothless area accelerates,  amount and direction of the forces transferred to the existing teeth in mouth can be affected by this situation in the mouth health. Preservation of the alveolar bone is an important issue that should be taken into account before bone destruction begins. Thus, when considering implant planning in  future, resorption of  bone tissue around the teeth in the mouth is prevented. In this case report, it was planned to make a tooth-supported overdenture prosthesis in order to prevent the destructive effect of  harmful occlusal forces the teeth in  mouth. Case Report: 55-year-old male patient applied to Dicle University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Prosthodontics with  request to renew his existing prostheses.Obtaining the consent form from  patient,  removal procedures of the prostheses were performed. After the extraction procedure, it was decided to make a tooth-supported overdenture prosthesis on the existing teeth in  mouth. Canal treatments were applied to the teeth numbered 13,23,33, which were used as support. The teeth preparation processes were completed considering the occlusal vertical dimension.The fit of the copings on  teeth was checked and  occlusal vertical dimension was determined. After evaluating the parameters to be evaluated in the threaded proofing,  finishing phase was started. Copings were permanently cemented with polycarboxylate and occlusion controls were provided. Discussion: Dental-supported overdenture prostheses are successfully used to balance the crown-root ratio, to prevent bone resoption around the existing teeth in mouth, and to ensure the continuity of sufficient bone for implant construction in later stages. Conclusion: In this case report, a dental-supported overdenture prosthesis planning was designed and successfully applied in order to ensure the maintenance of our patient against the destructive occlusal forces on her teeth and to prevent possible bone destruction.
