An improved synthesis of various racemic polyphenolic tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloids

Abstract An improved and straightforward synthesis of (±)‐coclaurine (Va), (±)‐isococlaurine (Vb), (±)‐reticuline (VIIIa) as well as an alternate route to an intermediate in the synthesis of (±)‐multifloramine, the (±)‐diphenol (VIIIb), is described.
