Development of a High Performance Hydrophilic Polyurethane Foam

Specialised grades of flexible polyurethane foams which absorb large quantities of water have been developed. This paper describes unique hydrophilic foams developed and manufactured by Achilles Corporation, Japan. Particular applications in the horticultural/agricultural area, where the foam is used as an artificial soil, and in the surgical/medical areas are described.
