The effectiveness of polymer materials with flame retardants often needs complex and expensive tests on defined components to evaluate the fire performance. Therefore these tests are often not feasable with new developed materials and compound formulations. The paper here shows that useful information on fire behavior can also be obtained with lowest material amounts (<50 mg) by thermoanalytical methods (TGA, DSC) and the recently developed fire test method PFCF.
